Hot Buttered Rum


4 cinnamon sticks
4 tsp light soft brown sugar
115ml dark rum
625ml cider
25g butter
1tsp ground mace
4 lemon slices

  1. Divide cinnomon sticks, sugar and rum between 4 warm, heatproof glasses
  2. Place cider in a saucepan and heat until hot, but not boiling. Fill each glass almost to the top with cider
  3. Add a knob of butter, a sprinkling of mace and a lemon slice to each glass.
  4. Stir well and serve.
