Apple Tart

Ingredients Filling:

800g apples
100g sugar
100g butter
1 tsp cinnamon powder

Ingredients Pastry:

150g icing sugar
180g margarine
1/2 egg
2 tsp custard powder
300g plain flour

Method Filling:
  1. Chop apples finely. Boil chopped apples with sugar, butter and cinnamon powder. Stir till apple filling is soft and thickened.

Method for Pastry:

  1. Beat icing sugar, margarine, egg and custard powder together in mixer till all sugar has dissolved. Add plain flour and mix well to form dough. Remove.

Method:

  1. Divide dough into balls. Press 1 ball of dough into small tart mould.
  2. Pour in apple filling and cover with 1 flattened ball of dough. brush suface with beaten egg. Bake for 25 minutes at 180°C.

Ingredients

* 6 Granny smith apples
* 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
* 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 125 tablespoon water
* 185 grams cold butter cubed
* 3/4 cup self raising flour
* 1 cup plain flour
* 1/4 cup caster sugar
* 1 large egg

Instructions
Peel and chop apples add to saucepan with water, zest, cinnamon, nutmeg and 1/2 cup sugar. Cook until tender. Leave to cool to room temperature. put Butter, flours, 1/4 cup caster sugar into food processor until resemble crumbs, then add egg to incorporate. divide into 2 equal disks wrap in glad wrap and refrigerate for an hour. Grease lamington tin and role out base pastry to fit. Spoon apples in and put pastry top on. Glaze with a beaten egg and milk and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Pace in moderate oven (160 deg fanforced) for approx 30-35 mins. cool slightly prior to slicing.
